Elena Dietrich

Elena Dietrich

Mezzo-soprano

Elena Dietrich – singer, narrator, and keyboard player – is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Vocal Pedagogy with Contemporary Practices at the Hochschule der Künste Zurich in the class of Sarah Wegener, following a two-year interlude at the Department of Chemistry at ETH Zurich. She previously completed her Master’s in Vocal Performance with distinction under the guidance of Judith Schmid at the Musikhochschule Lucerne.

As both a singer and narrator, she is especially devoted to working with words and text, preferably with an increasing degree of absurdity and nonsense. Her repertoire ranges from Renaissance music to contemporary music and performance art. She particularly values close collaboration with composers and the opportunities that arise in the creative process of new works. She has already premiered numerous compositions, including works by Agata Zubel, Rita Jurt, and Ilai Weigl.

Alongside her engagement with contemporary repertoire, Elena Dietrich maintains an active concert career in Switzerland and abroad, focusing on the major oratorios of the Baroque and Romantic periods.

She is equally dedicated to chamber music, performing in a lieder duo with Stefan Wirth and Hanna Maria Meister, as well as with violinist Isabel Dietrich.

Elena has appeared at several festivals such as the Origen Festival Cultural, the Othmar Schoeck Festival in Brunnen, and the Kammermusik Festival Bodensee. She has received important musical impulses through masterclasses including the Academy for New Music at Künstlerhaus Boswil with Juliet Fraser, Daniel Gloger, Szymon Bywalec, and Stefanie Braun, as well as courses with Eva Nievergelt, Cornelia Kallisch, and Laura Bowler.

In addition to her vocal work, Elena Dietrich is principal organist of the Evangelical Reformed Church in Würenlos (AG) and serves as a repetiteur and vocal coach for numerous choirs.

In 2025, Elena Dietrich won the Elvirissima Singing Competition of the Elvira-Lüthi-Wegmann Foundation.
