Lily Francis is a violinist and violist who performs internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. In 2009, she was a prizewinner at the ARD Music Competition in Munich and has appeared with some of Germany’s leading orchestras, including the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, and the Munich Radio Orchestra. In 2008, she made her recital debut at Carnegie Hall and was a regular guest of the renowned Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York.
In recent years, she has been heard across Europe – at venues such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Casals Festival in Spain, and the Heidelberger Frühling. She enjoys working with the Caerus Ensemble, the Trio Gaspard and the Gringolts Quartet, and has performed at festivals including Lockenhaus, Marlboro, Kronberg, and IMS Prussia Cove. She has collaborated with some of the most prominent musicians of our time, including András Schiff, Gidon Kremer, Kim Kashkashian, and Mitsuko Uchida.
Since 2017, she has served as Professor of Violin at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. She plays a violin by Pierre Silvestre (1846) and a viola by Marco Coppiardi (2004). Outside of music, she also enjoys life as a farmer, tending to 7 chickens, 5 sheep – and 4 children.
