Born in Bern, Zora Slokar first studied the violin before beginning the horn at the age of 16. She initially received lessons from her father, then continued her studies at the Hochschule der Künste Bern in the class of Thomas Müller. At the same time, she pursued her violin studies and obtained her teaching diploma in 2001. She then studied horn in Maastricht with Erich Penzel (Bachelor 2003) and in Zurich with Radovan Vlatković.
Zora Slokar has won numerous awards, including First Prize at the Concorso Internazionale Anemos in Rome in 2002 and First Prize at the Concorso Internazionale Domenico Ceccarossi in Orsogna in 2003.
As principal horn of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester and the UBS Verbier Festival Orchestra, she has performed under renowned conductors such as Pierre Boulez and many others. She is currently principal horn of the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana in Lugano.
